Keep writing even when you feel like a failure

Rest If You Must, But Don’t You Quit!

May 9, 2017 Writing your first novel-Some things you should knowDon't give up, Encouragement, Keep writing even when you feel like a failure, Never quit, Writing tips1 Comment

youtubeheaderI have a plaque that sat on my desk for years when I worked for the state. A friend gave it to me for encouragement on those days when I felt like I wasn’t making a difference and wanted to quit. The author of the poem  is unknown, but it’s words transcend time. It doesn’t matter where you are or what you’re doing, take heart and don’t quit.

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,

When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,

When the funds are low and the debts are high,

And you want to smile but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit,

Rest if you must but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twist and turns,

As everyone of us sometimes learns,

And many a failure turns about,

When you might have won if you stuck it out.

Don’t give up though the pace seems slow—

You may succeed with another blow.

Success is failure turned inside out—

The silver tint of the clouds of doubt.

And you never can tell how close you are,

It may be near when it seems so far.

So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit—

It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Hope this encouraged you to refocus and keep moving forward.
